Tell us what you have been doing for the last 30 Years:
In August, after graduating, I went into the Navy and served for four years. After discharge in 1982, I worked a short time for United Chemical Co. in Asheville before going to work for Goodyear Carolina Tire Co. in June 1983. After two years and the most difficult period of my life, I came to understand that I had been on the wrong road all along. In April 1985, I gave my life to the Lord, met my soon to be wife Betsy, and shortly thereafter began preparing for the ministry at Fruitland Bapt. Inst. After graduating from Fruitland in 1988, I started at Mars Hill College in Jan.'89. After graduating from MHC in '91 and taking a year off, we moved to Fort Worth, TX where I began classes at Southwestern Baptist Seminary. After graduating in 1996, we moved back to NC (Salisbury) where I began serving as pastor of the Stallings Memorial Baptist Church. In Dec. 2000, after four and a half years, I resigned and went back to work in the business world. For the first year and a half, I worked for a Wireless Internet Co. (Velocenet, Inc.) in Salisbury as a Sales Rep. In June 2002, I began working for Time Warner Cable Co. as a neighborhood sales rep in the Salisbury area. I have been there ever since. Of course, along the way during the course of these events, Betsy and I managed to have two beautiful daughters, Elisabeth (1986) and Jenny (1990). We have been happily married now for 23 years.

I went to UNC-A and got a BS in Physics; with the emphasis on the BS. While at UNC-A Michelle (Herren) and I got married and I started to work in job shop machining. Michelle and I have three kids: Matthew, Kayla, and Drew. They have consumed the best part of the last 30 years with soccer, dance, plays, concerts, basketball games, halftimes, and various other weekend activities. I have spent most of my summer vacations at the Outer Banks. I have spent a lot of time working and making performance parts for racing. I now work from my house in Candler for two companies out of Detroit and go to different racing events throughout the year. I enjoy sailing, wind surfing, and long walks with my wife. I look forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming events. We are going to have a great time! Take time to contact old friends and participate by posting on our message board. Wow! Where did that thirty years go! See you at the reunion.
Please share one of your best (or most humorous) memories of high school:
One of my best memories is the first day of track practice my Sophomore year. It was my first attempt at track and field events. I decided to give pole vaulting a try. We were warming up and getting a feel for using the pole to throw ourselves into the air when Tony Brown decided we needed to put up the bar. He proceeded to set the bar at 10 feet and vaulted over it. I decided it was my turn (probably more determined after being told I couldn't do it). I grabbed the pole and ran to the end of the approach. I will never forget throwing my feet up and over that bar for the first time without fear or hesitation and clearing the bar. My first and last great moment in pole vaulting the same day.

After a short time at UNC-A, I married Andy Anderson in 1980. I stayed home with our three children for 15 years (It was great!). For the last 11 years I have worked at Candler Elementary School as a Title I Reading Assistant (I love it!). Yes, we still live in Candler. What do we do for fun? Well, our oldest son, Matt, is 24 and recently graduated from UNC-A with a Music Technology Degree. He's in a rock band... we go to a lot of local clubs. Our daughter, Kayla, is 21 and a Junior at NC State. She's on the Dance Team...we go to Wolfpack basketball and football games. Our youngest son, Drew, is 18 and will graduate from Enka High this year (30 years after us!). He plans to attend AB-Tech. He's always on a skateboard or snow board... we just pray for him. Andy and I also enjoy our trips to the Outer Banks of NC. We like hiking around in the beautiful mountains of Western NC and hanging out in the diversity of Asheville. We love spending time with our kids and going out to eat with our friends. I have a Shih-tzu named Chloe to help fill the empty nest. Life is good! I look forward to seeing everyone!

My best memory has to be cheering for the 1977-78 girls basketball team as they won the State Championship Game! It was also the first time I had ever stayed in a motel. My most humorous memory is the Ecology Club Beach Trip Fashion Show. Need I say more?

While on fishing trip with John McCoy and Bobby Keever, Bobby got "hooked" in the lower lip when he put the hook in his mouth in order to get some bait and the hook ended up permanently attached to his lip! We had to jerk it out with Bobby's eyes bulging and lower lip bleeding, John and I were cracking up at his facial expressions!

Tell us what you have been doing for the last 30 Years:
I graduated from Appalachian State University in 1982 with a Public Relations/Communications degree. I married Robert Broome in Oct.'82. We lived in Charlotte for 1 year, then Greenville, SC for 5 years, and then moved back to the Charlotte area (Harrisburg) where we have been since. I have worked with several non-profit organizations and am now a presenter for King's College in Charlotte, NC. I have 2 beautiful daughters...Laura(21) who is in pharmacy school at the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!!!) and Allison (18) who is a freshman at East Carolina University majoring in nursing(like the Pirate mascot better!) She likes the blood and guts while Laura wants to push drugs for a living...I think Laura will make more $$$$! Mom's the only cheerleader in the family....both girls played volleyball and basketball for Central Cabarrus High School in Concord, NC and my husband is a football referee with the Southern Conference. Since we are empty-nesters this fall, I am having redrawals from not rushing around to ballgames after all these years! Robert was with Duke Energy for many years as an IT manager and is now with Accenture. We have 2 old lady golden retrievers and 2 cats (1 that adopted us). I still think I'm 18 until I look at my pictures and I think I'm my mom and Allison is me! P.S. Right before Allison went to school this fall, I took her and a couple of her friends to Graveyard Fields...brought back so many memories of high school. I haven't been there in about 25 years or so and was disappointed that it had been discovered and modernized...the walking trail and bridges! Remember when we would go the short hike straight down the mountain??????!!!
Please share one of your best (or most humorous) memories of high school:
Kidnapping our Student Council President (RICKY) and rolling him in a grocery cart around Merriman Avenue, stealing a bra from Ms Crowe-Jones' clothes line, all the Student Council stuff, all the ballgames....especially when the Sugar Jets beat the Squaws and winning State, Graveyard Fields, Sliding Rock, and when most of us skipped school and went canoeing at Enka Lake.
